DHB Bank selects office building FIRST

Demir-Halk Bank Nederland N.V. (DHB Bank) has sold its office building at Parklaan 8-12 in Rotterdam to a private investor. This office is comprised of three beautiful, historic buildings in Rotterdam’s Scheepvaartkwartier. Parklaan 8, 10 and 12 are interconnected and have a large garden situated behind the buildings. The city of Rotterdam designated Parklaan 10 and 12 as protected city view. Parklaan 8 is designated an official national monument. This building is also known as Het Elevatorhuis as it was built by the Graan Elevator Maatschappij (GEM). The complex that was sold has a total of approximately 2,670 sq.m. of office space and boasts six parking spaces on the adjacent lot.

At the beginning of the last century, Het Elevatorhuis housed various important Rotterdam businesses. After an upgrade of the building, the new owner again plans to offer office space to various entrepreneurs in a historic building with up-to-date comfort. Parc Makelaars advised the seller in this process and manages renting. CBRE was an advisor to DHB Bank.

On April 1st, DHB Bank will open its new offices in office building FIRST. The bank signed a lease agreement with FIRST Rotterdam C.V. for approximately 1,051 sq.m. of office space and five parking spaces.

FIRST is a joint development of Maarsen Groep and Rabo Vastgoedgroep, completed in the summer of 2016. The building – with a BREEAM Excellent certificate - is situated right across from Rotterdam Central Station and Weena. In addition to Robeco and Nauta Dutilh, Petrobras Netherlands, Fit 20 and Cushman & Wakefield are leasing office space in this building.

DHB Bank is a Dutch bank that plays a unique role in the European financial world. Its retail banking activities focus on delivering products in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In addition, the bank specializes in financial services for mid-sized and large companies in Europe and Turkey.

Steven Prins, Managing Director Demir-Halk Bank, explains why the bank is moving office: “We were looking for a modern office location, easily accessible and with a professional appearance. FIRST met all of our requirements. We also think the BREEAM Excellent certificate is an important asset. In FIRST, we expect to be able to create the right conditions to work optimally and successfully as a team.”

Sander de Jong, Commercial Manager at Maarsen Groep: “We are very happy to welcome DHB Bank as a tenant in FIRST. DHB Bank’s unique mission and vision align perfectly with the high quality of the FIRST building. Thanks to its ideal location close to Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Schiphol, DHB Bank is able to easily welcome its international relations. We wish DHB Bank the best of luck in Rotterdam’s new icon.”

Cushman & Wakefield, of which DTZ Zadelhoff is a part since November 2016, advised the owner FIRST Rotterdam C.V. CBRE advised DHB Bank during the preparatory stage and also received the assignment for designing and realizing the office interior (project management).

There are still floors available in the building. Information can be found on firstrotterdam.nl.
