Havas moves to Stadhouderskade 1, Amsterdam

Havas Lemz advertising agency and media agency Havas Media are taking over the lease for Stadhouderskade 1. Stadhouderskade 1 is a unique office building that occupies a prime location at the very beginning of the Overtoom in Amsterdam. Together, the new tenants with over 160 employees will form Havas Village and work to develop and execute their integrated communications services.

Together with landlord Breevast, the advertising and media giant has signed a multi-year lease for approximately 3,070 sq. m. of office space and 67 parking spaces in the adjacent car park. Havas is expected to be fully operational at this location by February 2017. The interior will be fully set up to allow for permanent or project-based cooperation in large and smaller groups. The new tenants have indicated that the decision to lease this building was based on its prime location, unique appeal, charm and excellent accessibility.

The building at Stadhouderskade 1 is unlike any other office building in Amsterdam’s city centre. The building was designed in line with the Amsterdam School style of architecture, and is sandwiched between Stadhouderskade and Singelgracht. It is the only building with an entrance facing southwest, ‘looking out’ as it were, and was originally constructed to house Amsterdam’s public transport company GVB. In 1983, the building’s lease transferred to the Municipal Sanitation Department. After that a number of organisations followed, including CBRE – headquartered there until 2011 – and current tenant PVH Europe (Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein). PVH will eventually merge all its departments in the city centre and move to a campus consisting of three buildings in Amsterdam’s Houthavens district.

Appelhoven Real Estate Consultants have advised tenant PVH Europe on the move. CBRE advised the landlord in this transaction.
