NWO extends contract in Java Building, The Hague

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has signed a multi-year lease extension on its space in the Java Building in The Hague. The lease extension involves more than 13,500 sq m of office space and associated parking spaces at the Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië 300 location. The lessor of the fully leased building is Westinvest Gesellschaft für Investmentfonds mbH, a subsidiary of Deka Immobilien GmbH.

Westinvest has assumed a number of contracts in the adjacent Borneo Building, located at Anna van Saksenlaan 51. Organisations that had previously been leasing from sublessor NWO now have contracts directly with the landlord. Virenze Riagg leases approximately 390sq m of office space and associated parking spaces. The Tympaan Institute Foundation leases approximately 300 sq m. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (DANS) has leased 768 sq m, and the Rathenau Institute (also part of the Royal Academy) has signed a contract for approximately 1,338 sq m of office space. The total LFA of the Borneo Building is approximately 5,053 sq m, of which approximately 1,250 sq m is still available for lease.

The Java and Borneo Buildings are located in The Hague’s Bezuidenhout district, bordering the Beatrixkwartier district and opposite the Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië railway station (‘Laan van NOI’). Various ministries, agencies and business service providers are located in the immediate vicinity.

CBRE represented the interests of Westinvest in all transactions, with the exception of the Virenze Riagg contract takeover. In this case, Van Rookhuijzen Realty & Consultancy represented Westinvest.
