Amsterdam, 4th February 2008 – CB Richard Ellis has recruited Corporate Finance specialist Frank Maertens to join its rapidly growing Loan Origination business in EMEA. Frank joins CB Richard Ellis from Deloitte Financial Advisory Services as EMEA Managing Director, Debt Finance.

CB Richard Ellis is one of the largest third party arrangers of commercial real estate debt financing in the world. With over 120 dedicated finance professionals in over 35 markets, the company facilitates debt financings with over 300 lenders for its clients.

In EMEA the Loan Origination service line has grown rapidly since its formal establishment in 2006 and the team closed a number of major transactions in 2007. The company expects to see sustained growth for this part of its business as clients increasingly seek innovative financial funding solutions for their commercial property investment needs, particularly in today’s more challenging credit climate.

Frank brings significant industry experience to the team and will be specifically charged
with helping to facilitate this growth opportunity. Having joined Deloitte Financial Advisory Services as a Partner in 2004, he was subsequently responsible for all corporate finance activities of Deloitte within the Financial Services Industry. This included the execution of a number of ground breaking deals including a €600m structured real estate disposition transaction for a Dutch pension fund in May 2007.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Frank’s previous roles included Managing Director at Faxtor Securities, a Dutch-based structured credit and alternative investments boutique, Head of Treasury of NIB Capital Bank, London Branch with responsibility for the Treasury Department and the Bank’s structured credit portfolio and various positions at ABN AMRO Bank.

Commenting on the appointment Marco Hekman, EMEA Board member and MD CB Richard Ellis Netherlands, said: “The key to successful financing is an effective combination of well established relationships with the industry’s premier international investors with innovative financing strategies. Frank brings both unmatched experience and connections to the team and we look forward to leveraging his expertise to our clients’ advantage.”

Frank Maertens, EMEA Managing Director Debt Finance, CB Richard Ellis, added: “The first company to establish a joint venture to launch property derivatives market in Europe was always going to hit my radar and I have watched the development of the CB Richard Ellis Capital Markets business with interest over recent years. The range of financial solutions that the company is now able to offer investors in commercial real estate both in Europe and across the world is highly impressive, as is the talent of the existing team. I look forward to working with them to deliver clients unparalleled value.”

Frank will report to Marco Hekman who has Board responsibility for CB Richard Ellis’ Debt Finance service line. Based in Amsterdam, Frank will work in close partnership both with Debt and Equity Finance expert Barbara Pereira, and the company’s Capital Markets team in London.
