Cordaid Foundation rents 1,900 sq. m. in Sijthoff City

The Cordaid Foundation has signed a long-term rental contract for around 1,900 sq. m. in Sijthoff City at Grote Marktstraat 43 in The Hague.

Location

Sijthoff City enjoys a lively, central location on one of The Hague’s busiest shopping streets. Grote Marktstraat connects several retail areas between Spui and the Grote Markt and is also close to the political centre, the Nieuw Centrum office district and the Wijnhavenkwartier. Bus and tram stops are less than a minute’s walk away, and four parking garages with great accessibility from other cities are also located within easy walking distance. Sijthoff City has achieved a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM certificate for the New Builds Design Phase, and also boasts an Energy Label A.

History

Sijthoff City has a rich history. The original Sijthoff building, named for publisher Albertus Willem Sijthoff Jr., was brought into use in 1934 by the Haagse Courant newspaper. The premises were completely destroyed by fire in 1976, and in the 1980s the building made way for new builds. Beginning in 2013, this property was completely redeveloped by JP van Eesteren to a design created by V8 Architects. The building has around 11,500 sq. m. of floorspace, including around 6,300 sq. m. for offices and 4,800 sq. m. in space for high-end retail outlets. This redevelopment is a perfect fit for the plans set out by the Municipality of The Hague to transform Grote Marktstraat into a worthy rival for the greatest retail streets in European capital cities.

Rental

Although Cordaid has rented space here, Sijthoff City still has around 2,500 sq. m. of office space available to rent. There are also several units available on a flexible basis in Sijthoff City’s Business Center.

CBRE advised the owner Bryant Park Maxima VII B.V. and its asset manager Cording Real Estate Group in this transaction, together with Nadorp Makelaars. The tenant, Cordaid, was advised by Huurdersland.
