Hannah Scott wins 2019 IWBI Leadership Recognition Award

Title goes to CBRE's sustainability team for the second year in a row

Hannah Scott has been named the winner of the 2019 Leadership Recognition Award by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the organisation behind WELL certification for real estate. This international award recognises leaders in promoting health and well-being for users of buildings. Every year, it is presented to a real estate expert from anywhere in the world who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the WELL certification process.

Hannah, Development Services consultant at CBRE, has extensive international experience of working with sustainability strategies for buildings, funds and organisations. She made the switch from CBRE UK earlier this year. Her previous role had been developing and implementing sustainability strategies for investors and end users. In her new role at CBRE Netherlands, she advises investors on how to implement large-scale well-being and health projects within their portfolios.

Hannah Scott, consultant Development Services
It’s great to be given this international recognition. My teammates and I are proud to provide support for the process of making working environments healthier and more sustainable, every day. Working for CBRE Netherlands gives me the opportunity to do exactly that for some wonderful big-name organisations. Our growing team has some exciting and ambitious plans for 2020. We have made great strides in recent years, and will continue to do a lot of good work in the field of health and sustainability.

Another award for CBRE's sustainability team

Last year, Tim Habraken was the first Dutch sustainability specialist to win this award. As Associate Director of Sustainability, he set up CBRE's sustainability team in 2015 and went on to expand the team from three specialists to eight. This means that the team can now offer advice on ESG strategy, building certifications, energy performance, regulatory compliance, energy monitoring, reporting and climate resilience.

Demand for sustainability advice is growing rapidly

CBRE is seeing rapidly growing demand from companies for sustainability advice, as sustainability increasingly becomes a crucial aspect of their real estate strategies. As a result, the team has grown rapidly and now does a lot of work involving portfolio-wide strategic advice, whereas previously it mainly involved single assets.

The leading standard for healthy buildings

IWBI is the organisation behind WELL certification. WELL certification is internationally recognised as the leading standard for healthy buildings. WELL certification can be obtained by building owners and users, and provides independent verification of the health performance of the building in question. To obtain a certificate, buildings must pass an assessment on various elements, such as air and water quality, the availability of light, and the impact of the building on dietary habits, physical and mental fitness, and noise.
