HEINEKEN leases 5,500 sq. m. in Lorentz Leiden

HEINEKEN Netherlands is about to rent a complete office building of approximately 5,500 sq. m. including ground-floor public space on Stationsplein in Leiden. The building is part of the newly built Lorentz complex, located directly opposite Central Station on the ‘most sustainable kilometre in the Netherlands’. HEINEKEN has signed a long-term lease for the property with Achmea Dutch Value Added Developments Partnership.

Lorentz is a new-build project, due for delivery at the end of this year. It is a large, multifunctional complex that offers space for offices, apartments, retail, bars and restaurants. HEINEKEN’s national commercial organisation for its beer and cider brand is expected to take up residence in early 2020, a move that brings the operation closer its customers and consumers. From that year, HEINEKEN’s existing Dutch organisation will be structured as three independent operating companies, and this is the impetus behind the move.

HEINEKEN has eye-catching plans for the ground floor: a brewpub where everyone is welcome and where the brewer can try out its latest innovations. The pub will fulfil its own special role in the area, while serving as an attractive calling card for the organisation’s corporate and administrative presence. And of course, it will breathe new life into an already bustling station district.

Alongside intensive cooperation for the lease, CBRE will also take care of project management and interior design for HEINEKEN at this location. “We are very proud of this partnering with HEINEKEN,” says Hank Noordhuis of CBRE. “It is a logical extension of the project we are already carrying out for HEINEKEN Global Supply Chain & Global Procurement at Schiphol.”
