The Core: a new chapter in CBRE’s story

CBRE has moved into its brand-new head office. Located in a former garage in Amsterdam’s Schinkel district, The Core marks a new chapter for the Dutch branch of the international real estate services company.

The nature of work is changing and greater demands are being made of the buildings we use. As a result, accommodating the needs of businesses and providing real estate solutions is becoming ever more complex. The Core is a place where we will work closely with our clients to design future working environments, a place where innovation comes to life and entrepreneurship can flourish.

Combining expertise

In recent months, CBRE has thoroughly renovated the building on Anthony Fokkerweg in Amsterdam: disconnecting it from the gas mains, fitting a new insulation shell and rethinking the entire layout. Four different zones now give users of The Core the opportunity to choose a working approach geared to the assignment they are working on.

We see The Core not so much as an office, but rather as a meeting place,’ Marco Hekman explains. ‘Our aim is to combine expertise and to facilitate our employees and clients to come up with creative and relevant solutions for real estate and housing issues. Innovation will support all these objectives. Within the walls of this great new space, it’s all about people power.

Sustainable and healthy

A smart building system enables CBRE to tailor the building’s functions to the preferences of its users. In addition, CBRE is aiming for the highest possible standards in terms of sustainability and health. For example, all of the recyclable materials in The Core have been brought into focus and CBRE has made use of cutting-edge research by the University of Twente on how the working environment influences the health, well-being and performance of office users.

The Core is more than just the answer to our own housing situation,’ Marco concludes. ‘We are setting out on a completely new path. The building is virtually free of fixed frameworks, so from now on we will be able to adapt even more smoothly and effectively to the rapidly changing world around us.

CBRE’s location on Gustav Mahlerlaan in Amsterdam’s Zuidas will remain open. CBRE also has offices in The Hague, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle and at Schiphol Airport.
