UNICEF leases office in The Hague

UNICEF Netherlands has leased a new office location at Bezuidenhoutseweg 74 in The Hague. A long-term lease was signed in December 2014 with the lessor MERIN for approximately 1,950 sq m office space in the Queens House building. Currently the organisation is still housed in approximately 2,850 sq m in Voorburg. This lease will enable UNICEF to save some 50% compared to its current annual accommodation expenses.

UNICEF’s selection of Queens House stems from the desire to move to an innovative workplace concept that encourages openness and cooperation. Queens House fully facilitates this new way of working as a result of its structure and compact atrium. The current location in Voorburg is not suitable for this because of its closed structure and the small floors. The organisation is expected to relocate in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Queens House consists of a total of some 4,535 sq m divided into two independent office buildings, and provides ample parking space in its underground garage. The building is at a central location on the Bezuidenhoutseweg, bordered at the rear by the Haagse Bos woodland area. Located In the vicinity are several ministries, VNO/NCW, ASN Bank and the Ombudsman. The latter is also accommodated in Queens House. The building is just around the corner from the pleasant Theresiastraat, New Babylon shopping centre, and The Hague’s Central Station. MERIN wants to make Queens House the club house for NGOs. UNICEF is the seventh NGO that MERIN accommodates.

CBRE acted as advisor of UNICEF and, on behalf of the tenant, is also responsible for the project management. Nadorp Makelaars (estate agents), in cooperation with colleagues COG, advised MERIN.
