VolkerWessels Logistics Development sells newly developed Welkoop distribution centre to Nuveen Real Estate
Logistics real estate developer VolkerWessels Logistics Development (VWLD) sold a newly developed state-of-the-art distribution centre, let to Welkoop, to Nuveen Real Estate.
Systabo, a subsidiary of VolkerWessels, started the construction works of the distribution centre on behalf of VWLD in February. Upon completion in October, the approximately 25,000 sq. m. distribution centre will become the new headquarters of Welkoop. Welkoop, a market leader in gardening- and pet products, replaces its current headquarters in Ede with the new property in Apeldoorn. The adjacent parking garage will provide c. 180 parking spaces and will be realized by VolkerWessels subsidiary Stam+ de Koning. From their new property in Apeldoorn, Welkoop will supply all its c. 150 stores and will handle its e-commerce activities.
VWLD and Welkoop have chosen the business estate Apeldoorn Noord 2 due to its central location in relation to the retailer’s shops. Welkoop is able to reach 85% of its stores being within two hours’ drive. In addition to this, the business estate Apeldoorn Noord 2 is strategically located in the proximity of the motorways A1 and A50. Apeldoorn is the heart of the logistics region ‘A1 corridor’ and is strategically located on the logistics axis to Northern and Central Germany.
