Mendix expands office space at De Rotterdam building to over 7,000 sq. m.

Mendix, part of Siemens and worldwide leader in low-code and no-code application development, has expanded and renewed its lease for office space at the “De Rotterdam” office building in its namesake city’s Kop van Zuid area. Since 2018, Mendix has leased over 4,500 sq. m. of office space here. Now this is to be expanded to approximately 7,000 sq. m.

“Our office expansion is the result of the strong growth of our organisation and our ambitions for the future. A dynamic environment in which innovation and the convergence of employees, customers and partners is key” says Derek Roos, CEO at Mendix. By adding a second floor to our offices we can also better facilitate our more than 450 employees and easily organise events. The location of our offices at Kop van Zuid is also highly dynamic and our employees and customers enjoy spending time there.”

The Kop van Zuid area in Rotterdam is becoming a very popular business location and already hosts Deloitte, KPN, Mediamarkt Saturn, Port of Rotterdam and VRR – businesses and institutions from a number of different sectors. The expansion of Mendix at this location is confirmation that Kop van Zuid is also becoming more appealing to Rotterdam’s growing tech sector. The international allure of the area, the accessibility by public transport and the presence of numerous appealing bars and restaurants with the growing popularity of nearby Katendrecht, are important factors in the decision to relocate to Kop van Zuid.

The De Rotterdam Building was designed by OMA’s Rem Koolhaas and is currently benefitting from the increased appeal of the Kop van Zuid area. The mixed-use building with retail outlets, a hotel, apartments and offices only has a few office floors left available for lease. Fleur Wepster of L’Etoile has confirmed the increased appeal. “All positive developments have ensured that Kop van Zuid is an attractive part of Rotterdam, both in business and private terms, which has also had a very positive effect on our building. We are very proud to have continued and expanded our lease agreement with a dynamic company like Mendix.”

CBRE provided support for the tenant, Mendix, in the process of negotiating this new lease and in the realisation and design of the offices. L’Etoile Properties advised the landlord, Amundi Real Estate, in this transaction.
