Design nominated for Spatial Awards – Large Office of the Year

Headquarters CBRE Netherlands nominated for international Frame Awards

The CBRE Netherlands Headquarters ‘The Core’ in Amsterdam, has been nominated for the prestigious international Frame Awards in the Large Office of the Year category. The awards are an annual initiative of Frame Magazine, one of the leading magazines in commercial interior design. A total of nine offices have been nominated, including the ASICS headquarters, which CBRE worked on in collaboration with Powerhouse Company. The jury will announce the winners on 19 and 20 February 2020. In addition, the public can now vote for favorite projects, for the People's Choice Award.

From car garage to office

The Core is a former, fifty-year-old car garage in the Amsterdam Schinkel district and was completely transformed into a modern and innovative office in one year. The building has thus been given a sustainable second life, with the authenticity of the garage still visible in its interior. For example, the old overhead doors and shed roofs are still part of the décor. The office was created entirely by CBRE's own design team, which has been designing interiors for many years for large brands. The workplace concept, sustainability and the complete renovation were also realized by CBRE itself. Earlier this year, the office was nominated for ‘Interior of the Year’, by the Dutch Architect platform Architectenweb.

People centric

Ramon Beijen, Creative director at CBRE: "We are extremely proud that we have been nominated for this international prize with this office, a transformed old car garage in Amsterdam. During the whole process of creating The Core, not only has this building been transformed, but also our organization. With the layout of the office in different zones, we went from an activity-related work environment to a working-style environment. Here individuals are at the center, and we focus on innovation, co-creation, health and sustainability. The design optimally supports this philosophy, without losing sight of the unique character of the building."

Four zones

The Core features four different zones, matching each type of employee. The Workshop is a hotbed of teamwork and the Client Lab is all about co-creation with clients, while the Library is a place for quiet, focused working. And all the different zones come together in the Café: a place to meet and cooperate in a relaxed setting.

Nomination headquarters ASICS EMEA

The new headquarters of ASICS in Hoofddorp have also been nominated for the Frame Awards. CBRE designed its interior in collaboration with Powerhouse Company, fully in line with Asics' philosophy: 'A sound mind in a sound body'.
