Willem Rodermond and Roderick Smorenburg now heading CBRE’s valuation team
Since 1 January 2020, Willem Rodermond and Roderick Smorenburg have been jointly responsible for CBRE Netherlands’ Valuation and Advisory team. Previously, the team was headed by a three-member management team chaired by Mark Fidler, which both Willem and Roderick were part of. The entire Valuation and Advisory team includes fifty professionals and it is at the forefront of the Dutch valuation market, partly because the services that it offers are increasingly data-driven in nature.
Data and digital resources
The use of data in combination with other digital resources that are being developed by CBRE is specifically what the team intends to focus on and expand even further, going forwards.
Willem Rodermond: ‘Not only does the use of new digital tools and data give our services more intrinsic strength, but we are also seeing that confidence in them among clients is increasing. That is enabling us to provide even better quality and reliability across the board in the services that we provide. For instance, we are developing new valuation methods based on advanced data-driven models, in combination with our extensive knowledge of the market.’
Roderick Smorenburg voegt daaraan toe: ‘Our role is evolving from that of the traditional valuer towards valuation consultant. That means that a reliable valuation report is only part of what we offer. There’s also advice on ground leases, rent review, and advice on portfolio purchases or changes of purpose, for instance.’
Changing of the Guard
In recent decades, CBRE's valuation team has grown to become a valued and trusted partner in the Dutch real estate sector. Mark Fidler has been working at CBRE Netherlands for over 23 years, and for the last fifteen of those years he was Executive Director of the Valuation and Advisory Unit. After reaching this important milestone in his career, he has now decided to branch out in a new direction. He will be deploying his vision and expertise in a consultancy position within CBRE’s Dutch and European organisation.
